DanDan was created by two Midwest chefs, Dan Van Rite and Dan Jacobs. Van Rite, native to Green Bay, Wisconsin, initially went to school for architecture. While serving tables part-time while attending school, he learned he wanted to pursue professional cooking. Van Rite graduated from Western Culinary Institute in Portland, Oregon with high honors in 1996. Jacobs took a few classes from what is now known as Cordon Bleu and apprenticed under many cooking masters. The two met each other from cooking events and opened DanDan in 2016, which can be explained as “chef-driven Chinese food with a midwestern sensibility to Milwaukee’s dining scene.”

Jing’s is located on the corner of Water Street and Buffalo Street on the first floor of The Marshall Building, just two blocks South of the Milwaukee Public Market.
